First Ride

Technically, my first ride this season was Patriot's Day weekend, Saturday, April 18. Eileen and I rode to Corner Cycle in Falmouth so I could buy a helmet and some gloves. It was a great day for a ride -- sunny, not too cool, really comfortable riding weather. Even though Eileen tried to convince me to buy a blue helmet ("something that stands out"), I bought a black one because black goes with everything and my bike is fuchsia. I used to think it was purple, but the guy in the bike shop (who got very involved in the discussion of what colors work with what other colors) described it as fuchsia. Who am I to argue?
Then we took the bike plan to Woods Hole, which was surprisingly lively that day because the Model Boat Show was happening, and bought tickets for the Woods Hole Film Festival's Dinner and a Movie showing of "Food Fight" -- a great documentary about the history of the organic food movement.
We rode home on the bike path toward West Falmouth and Eileen got a call from her friend Mel who had just arrived from CT. Eileen made plans for Mel to meet her at the beach, and I rode the big hill home. The new bike path along the marsh in W. Falmouth is spectacular! People were out bird watching or just strolling - signs of life after a long winter.
Total miles -- around 17
